At A.S. Watson, the very nature of our business is to add sparkle to the lives of our customers by supplying the key ingredients of a healthy, energetic and nutritious lifestyle. But we don't stop at sourcing and selling the best products at the fairest prices, we also take pride in being a caring corporate citizen.

Our charitable community-based initiatives address a range of social needs, from youth education and sporting events to medical research and price reduction campaigns for the elderly. Over the years, the impact of these programmes has been far-reaching.

ASW is particularly proud of being named a "Caring Company" by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services in 2002.


The Group established the Watsons Athletic Club in 1989, providing local junior athletes with more opportunities to better their performance and build character through sport. The Club has 400 members and regularly sponsors and organizes sporting activities.

ASW sponsors the Hong Kong Sports Development Board Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards to give support and recognition to young athletes who strive for excellence in sport.

ASW employees are part of the Hutchison Whampoa Volunteer Team, formed in 2002 to support the United Nations "International Year of Volunteers".

In late 2002, Watsons Your Personal Store supported the Hong Kong Cancer Fund in the Pink Revolution, aimed at raising funds and increasing awareness of breast cancer.

In 2001, PARKnSHOP raised more than HK$1 million in its Children's Education Fund Raising Campaign to help the Community Chest assist local needy children with their schooling. This was followed by the Help Hong Kong While You Shop campaign, which raised more than HK$500,000 for Community Chest youth-related assistance projects.

In Taiwan, Watsons has helped the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families raise millions to help children under financial pressure to stay in school.

The Mr. Juicy School Programme regularly offers games and activities to children from Hong Kong's kindergarten, primary and secondary schools to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Superdrug in the UK sponsors store fundraising initiatives for charity and has raised over ¢G1 million for Breast Cancer Care. It has also implemented far-sighted environmental policies to reduce waste and encourage recycling while it prohibits animal testing of its products and ingredients.

Savers in the UK has donated money to the British Heart Foundation for research into heart disease. Savers has also donated to Stockton School to enable a parent of a student to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Kruidvat, Trekpleister and ICI PARIS XL together with their employees have raised substantial amounts of money for the Sociais Fee Allegria (vagrant child project), which helps street children in Sao Concalo, Brazil. Many employees contribute to this project on a monthly basis directly through their pay-roll cheque.

Kruidvat supports classical music by sponsoring the "Het Zondagochtend Concert Series" in Holland.
