Raised more than HK$2.3M for S. Asia Earthquake & Tsunami Relief

Caring PARKnSHOP joined force with FORTRESS, Great, TASTE and Watsons Wine Cellar, all under Food, Electronics and General Merchandise Division of A S Watson Group has raised over HK$2.3 for the victims affected by S.E. Asia earthquake and tsunami disaster.

PARKnSHOP is proud to announce that with the enthusiastic support from FORTRESS, Great, TASTE and Watsons Wine Cellar, the three-week campaign raised a fantastic total of HK$2,354,564.90.

"We always knew Hong Kong people would rally to help the plight of the victims, the fabulous generosity of Hong Kong people is alive and well." said Mr Philippe Giard, Managing Director of PARKnSHOP Hong Kong.

The fundraising campaign ran from December 31, 2004 to 20 January 2005. Customers were encouraged to put their loose change into collection boxes at the checkout of PARKnSHOP, FORTRESS, GREAT, TASTE and Watson's Wine Cellar stores.

As well as giving their spare change, many customers have been digging deep into their wallets and donating $10, $20 and even $100 notes. Over 10,000 PARknSHOP, FORTRESS, Great, TASTE and Watsons Wine Cellar staff were also moved by the plight of victims and made their own donations, counting for more than $300,000.

Money raised will go to the "Hong Kong Red Cross" to fund their relief operation in the affected countries.

Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony Mr K. M. Chan, Secretary General of Hong Kong Red Cross said: "We are delighted that PARKnSHOP is taking the lead together with FORTRESS, GREAT, TASTE, and Watson's Wine Cellar to raise funds for this good cause. They have set a great example as caring corporate citizens and helped to rally the whole community to bring some joy to the millions of people in the disaster-struck countries."
