A joint venture between the A.S. Watson Group and The Nuance Group, the world's largest and most experienced airport retail company, Nuance-Watson began its operations at HKIA in July 1998. 2003 was a landmark year for Nuance-Watson as the company successfully pitched for and won three of HKIA's four anchor concessions for Airside General Merchandise, Perfumes and Cosmetics and Audio-Visual/Electronic Equipment. These winnings not only reinforced Nuance-Watson's leadership role in developing business opportunities at HKIA, but also underlined the company's long-term commitment to the travel retail industry in Hong Kong. 2003 also saw Nuance-Watson winning the concessions for Pharmaceutical & Personal Care, Luxury Branded Boutiques and Specialty Stores.
The Airside General Merchandise concession covers twelve stores branded as "The Atrium", "The Plaza", "The Gateway", "Essentials Express","Samsonite" and one outpost area. "The Atrium" is a one-stop luxury store, while "The Plaza" is the airport's largest department store. The extensive choice of goods on offer includes watches and jewellery, fashion and accessories, packaged food and souvenirs.
The Perfumes and Cosmetics portfolio includes thirteen stores that trade under the names "Temptation Duty Free", "Beauty Express", "M.A.C", "Giorgio Armani Cosmetics" and "Kiehl's", the latter two are being their first airport stores. These beauty stores stock and sell a dazzling array of perfumes, cosmetics and skincare products from over 100 world-famous brands.
"Sound & Vision - Enriching Life" is the trading name for Nuance-Watson's three Audio/Visual Electronics stores. This new customer-friendly electronics store enriches your life with state-of-the-art technologies.
Nuance-Watson operates seven luxury boutiques including "Bally", "Hugo Boss", "Pal Zileri", "Longchamp", "Omega", "The Peninsula Boutique" and "Giorgio Armani", which is the brandˇ¦s first signature travel retail boutique in the world. The companyˇ¦s portfolio also includes two specialty stores, namely "Fortress" and "Amazing Grace".
In January 2007, Nuance-Watson has further expanded its operations to the airport's new Terminal 2 SkyPlaza with 4 new stores. They are: "Amazing Grace", a treasure trove of Asian arts and crafts; "Bags Unlimited", an endless collection of bags for customers of all ages and nationalities; "Fortress and Intelligent Home", the leading household electronics and electrical appliances chain store; and "Scent & Beauty", a sensual world of sensations and self-indulgence.
In August 2007, the company expanded its travel retail portfolio beyond the airport environment for the first time with the launch of a 20,000 sq. ft. multi-category department store, "The Atrium", at The Venetian-Macao-Resort which is reputed as Asia's largest integrated resort.
In November 2007, Nuance-Watson made its first step into China by opening 2 contiguous stores at Zhuhai Airport, namely The Plaza department store and Watsons Your Personal Store. Together covering 7,000 sq. ft., the 2 stores offer a wealth of lifestyle choices and travel essentials for every pocket and taste.
