Six Hundred and sixteen primary, secondary and special school students received today the A.S. Watson Group Hong Kong Student Sports Awards (SSA) from Mrs Carrie Lam JP, the new Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs and Mrs Betty Ip, Principal Assistant Secretary (School Administration & Support) of the Manpower and Education Bureau. Over 1,800 school principals, teachers, parents and family members witnessed this important moment of Hong Kong's future sports stars.

A.S. Watson announced today the launch of the A.S. Watson Group Hong Kong Student Sports Awards (SSA), the first initiative of its kind in Hong Kong targeting at all local primary and secondary students. Under the new programme, awards will be granted to over 1,200 high-performing or potential students in sports nominated by their schools. The programme marks the beginning of a corporate effort to help develop an active sporting culture in welcoming the forthcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics.

A.S. Watson Group today confirmed the completion of cancellation of the listing of Merchant Retail Group shares on the official list and of trading on the London Stock Exchange following the completion of the Merchant Retail Group acquisition including The Perfume Shop. Hong Kong based A.S. Watson, the world's largest health and beauty retailer, purchased the UK company which owns the 114 strong Perfume Shop chain last month.

Today a group of fathers and kids celebrated Father's Day by playing sport together at Watsons Athletic Club's "Mini Olympics"at Maritime Square. Results of a recent survey were also revealed, showing kids wanted more time with their fathers and sport is ranked as the top activity they wish to do with their fathers.
