In addition to running the annual City Food Drive, in which customers and PARKnSHOP together donate staple items such as noodles and cooking oil to Food Angel, they also launched Food Rescue@PARKnSHOP, which encourages customers to appreciate food and promotes Smart Food recipes to minimise food waste.

Mr Li Ka-shing made a surprise appearance at Food Angel’s Community Centre in Sham Shui Po to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the senior citizens enjoying meals at the centre. Mr Dominic Lai, Group Managing Director of A.S. Watson Group, Ms Malina Ngai, Group Chief Operating Officer of A.S. Watson Group, and 20 PARKnSHOP volunteers also joined the visit.
Mr Li brought his best wishes of good luck and health to the elders. As he is celebrating his 90th birthday this year, Mr Li made a joke of himself, saying that he will become a member of the “Post-90s” very soon. He brought along with him some fruit and rice for the elderly, and also enjoyed a lunch with them at the community centre. During the visit, Mr Li pledged a donation of HK$10 million in the name of the Li Ka Shing Foundation to help Food Angel expand its community work.
On a wintery afternoon, staff from PARKnSHOP China brought gifts and visited a colleague, Mr. Ma. Despite having to overcome a life of disability and hardship, Mr. Ma had always been grateful for his job as a grass-roots worker in the distribution centre and performed his duties well. The visit from his colleagues was a simple but wonderful act of kindness, warmth and friendship that made Mr. Ma feel appreciated and loved.
Students from four Hong Kong schools that completed outstanding green projects in the PARKnSHOP Green School Programme have been recognised. Students and teachers from each of the teams gave a short presentation about their projects and were given prizes, students then took part in a jam-making workshop.
As part of A.S. Watson Group’s Global Volunteer Day, PARKnSHOP Hong Kong store and office colleagues volunteered at Food Angel Community Centre to serve meals and give away rice packs to the elders. Stores that collected the most donated food items for the “City Food Drive” campaign held earlier in the year were also presented with a certificate and gift in recognition of their great efforts.
Watsons Win Six “Top 10 Retailer” Titles in Asia Markets
A.S. Watson Group (ASW) has won the “Top Ten Retailer in Hong Kong – Gold Award” in the Retail Asia-Pacific Top 500 Awards 2017 organised by Asia Retail Publishing. The Group’s flagship brand Watsons was ranked high amongst other retail companies in five markets, including Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines, while Watsons China also won the Asia Top Ten retailers in Health & Beauty category.
Since 2013, PARKnSHOP Hong Kong and Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association have been co-organising the Elderly Food Coupon programme in several districts. This year, the programme was implemented in the Western district of Hong Kong Island. Riding on this initiative, an Elderly Food Coupon Shopping Day was held at PARKnSHOP in Kennedy Town. Volunteers accompanied elders to make mosquito repellent bags, enjoy afternoon tea, and redeem food items and daily necessities with coupons. It was certainly a very pleasant and fulfilling afternoon for all!
