Superdrug sends 21 professional nurses to support NHS Blood and Transplant to fight against COVID-19. They will help to deliver a major new programme to help collect convalescent plasma from people who have recovered from COVID-19 to support a national clinical trial.
The Superdrug and Savers teams ran an Easter Art drawing competition for the children of employees working from home during the pandemic. This was to keep them engaged and entertained, with the results shared on the Hub, the internal communications portal, and prizes awarded for best entries in different age groups.
Following the first activity’s success, the teams decided to purchase packs of sunflower seeds to send to colleagues and their families. Many participating staff planted the seeds at home in their gardens or in pots in their windows, hoping to see the sunflowers grow in June and July. A competition for the tallest and biggest plants will be held in July with prizes going to the most talented green thumbs.

As customers continue to stay home amid the covid-19 pandemic, Superdrug launches the new same-day delivery service for shoppers who need urgent supplies from over 300 stores.
Superdrug nurses volunteer at the NHS to help the vulnerable amid the coronavirus crisis. Superdrug deploys 102 professional nurses to directly support the NHS in the fight against Coronavirus, while their salaries will continue to be fully paid by Superdrug.
Superdrug ran a donation drive in partnership with Listerine for a month. For every product sold, 10 pence donation is made to Operation Smile. At the same time, Listerine products were sold at a discount to further drive sales. By the end of the campaign period, GBP10,000 was raised for this very meaningful cause!
Working in partnership with the Mekong Club, an independent NGO, A.S. Watson Health and Beauty UK has developed online training modules to raise awareness of modern slavery to all levels of staff in the UK.
A mandatory Modern Slavery eLearning Module was launched in September to all colleagues at Superdrug, Savers and The Perfume Shop. A secondary mandatory module was also launched for colleagues who are directly involved in procurement, since they are the people who would most likely come across situations involving potential modern slavery.
Superdrug held a CSR Day at their Head Office to celebrate World Environment Day. They trialed an initiative to remove the use of disposable coffee cups from the office in order to reduce plastic waste. To support the initiative, the People Team arranged for personalised reusable cups for colleagues to use instead.
On the same day, the CSR section of Superdrug.com was relaunched, which signifies the importance of corporate social responsibility within the business. Colleagues were encouraged to make environmental pledges with prizes awarded to the top two.
On average, one in five women will experience some form of mental health issue during or after their pregnancy. In spring, Superdrug worked with The Blue Dot Project to launch the #MakingOverMotherhood campaign to encourage mothers to share daily photos and messages on social media, showcasing the difficulties of motherhood.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage people, especially mothers, to talk and share their feelings around motherhood and seek support when feel that they’re struggling to maintain their mental health.
Superdrug was named the Marie Curie Corporate Charity Partner of the Year. The award celebrated the support that Superdrug have given to Marie Curie over the previous year and across the entire partnership which raised over £5 million over three major fundraising events and numerous other. One of the highlights was the Super Tropic Ball, which raised over £260,000.
