In an effort to raise awareness of the importance of recycling, Watsons Malaysia created mini notebooks for every headquarters staff out of waste paper generated in the office. While paper use is sometimes unavoidable in the office, employees are encouraged to think twice before they print and do their best in recycling.
Watsons Malaysia celebrates World Tapir for the second year with a nationwide donation to raise funds for the “Treasure Our Tapirs” campaign. For every Naturals by Watsons product sold online and at the physical stores, RM1 was donated by Watsons to the campaign, which showcases the Malayan Tapir and educates the public on the importance of conserving Malaysia’s natural heritage.
In conjunction with World Health Day, Watsons Malaysia organised a series of activities in the head office to promote a healthy lifestyle among staff. From health tips and health checks provided by medical professionals to stress management and a group Zumba session, the event was well received by all participants.
In-conjunction with World Kidney Day, Watsons Malaysia embarked on an awareness campaign aimed at building people’s awareness of chronic kidney disease and the importance of taking care of their kidneys by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
On World Kidney Day, the management and CSR team of Watsons visited Tung Shin Hospital Kuala Lumpur and the National Kidney Foundation, giving cheer to dialysis patients by presenting them with “Token of Love” personal care items and goodies sponsored by Watsons and its retail partners.
Watsons Malaysia organised a team building talent contest as part of their annual dinner performance. The contest was a wonderful way to discover staff members with different skill sets and strengths. Those with specific talents were invited to participate in future CSR activities, where their strengths could be tapped on for the good of the beneficiaries. It was a successful programme with a beautiful ending where participants were able to touch the lives of the underprivileged.
Watsons Win Six “Top 10 Retailer” Titles in Asia Markets
A.S. Watson Group (ASW) has won the “Top Ten Retailer in Hong Kong – Gold Award” in the Retail Asia-Pacific Top 500 Awards 2017 organised by Asia Retail Publishing. The Group’s flagship brand Watsons was ranked high amongst other retail companies in five markets, including Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines, while Watsons China also won the Asia Top Ten retailers in Health & Beauty category.
Watsons Malaysia organised a simple outing with children from Promise Home. The day started with lunch, followed by the latest Spiderman movie. Volunteers got to share a fun experience with the children, whilst also improving their relationship amongst colleagues. It was wonderful to see the excited and contented faces on each of the children that day.
To celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year festivities, Watsons Malaysia arranged for a warehouse sale of bedding products for colleagues. All proceeds went to funding future CSR activities.
At the same time, a visit to the Salvation Army’s Joyhaven Home for the elderly in Petaling Jaya was arranged. Volunteers distributed food and red packets as well-wishes, helped to decorate the home and spent some quality time with the seniors.
Watsons China, Malaysia, Taiwan and Turkey organised Zumba activities to engage customers, media, suppliers and the public. In Mainland China, a Zumba carnival promoted health and caring for the community, and Watsons made a RMB1 million joint donation with suppliers to launch an online fundraising campaign in aid of the Children’s Home Project by Sowers Action. In Malaysia, a “glow in the night” Zumba party was a fun-filled, calorie-burning and total-body workout. The jungle-themed Zumba party in Taiwan attracted over 2,000 enthusiastic participants, and in Turkey, Watsons sponsored the “Get Active” lifestyle festival and ran Zumba sessions throughout the festival.
Watson’s Malaysia’s very first iteration of its tri-annual ‘Pledge Your Birthday’ event was held on 17th April at House of Joy, a charity children’s home. The event’s objective was to encourage those whose birthdays fall within January and April to share the spirit of giving and bring hope to orphaned children. Participants celebrated the kids’ birthdays with a special lunch, fun games and presents. They also worked with volunteer teachers to arrange etiquette classes for the kids.
