As we spend more time at home, it’s easy to forget that our commute to and from work daily helps us stay active. As such, Watsons Taiwan organised a step challenge for employees, which saw a total of 178 participants completing a minimum 6,000 steps daily as a form of exercise. Winners were rewarded cash prizes as well as smart bracelets to help them further their health goals.
Continuing their work with the Children Are Us Foundation from previous years, 69 employees from Watsons Taiwan joined the foundation’s workshops as volunteers to help the children with intellectual disability with mooncake packaging.
Due to the social distancing measures, a lot of our colleagues spent more time at home. The team at Watsons Taiwan conducted a virtual workout challenge, encouraging employees to participate in their own way – walking, running or cycling – to reach a weekly target for a consecutive six weeks. A total of 190 employees participated and tracked their weekly progress on the staff app. Those who achieved their goals were awarded prizes and together all participants reached a total of 60,075km.
During the Covid-19 epidemic, many are doing their part, complying with isolation guidelines to keep the public safe despite suffering quietly from the stress brought about by quarantine. Watsons Taiwan staff cheered them on by organising a thank-you activity amongst the retail store employees. They were encouraged to use photos or videos to show their appreciation and gratitude towards anyone of their choosing. The interaction helps bring a little joy to citizens in quarantine and help them stay connected despite the physical distance.
To protect health workers at the frontline and provide the safer working environment, Watsons Taiwan collaborates with the supplier to donate 10 TranQube mobile cubical cabins, each worths over HK$100,000, to 8 hospitals across Taiwan. The cabins can provide a protective shield for the medics and ensure their safety when they conduct the COVID-19 tests.

Watsons Taiwan works closely with its suppliers to ensure steady product supply, and better reallocate the manpower and opening hours during this challenging time. It also strengthens eCommerce presence to address the increased online demand on health supplies.
The Watsons Get Active Festival was back this year, bigger and better than ever. Watsons Malaysia invited more than 8,000 customers to enjoy the newly introduced Strong by Zumba, a high-intensity workout using the tempo of the music to push participants through burpees, push-ups and other strengthening moves. Meanwhile, in Taiwan, 2,000 members participated the Get Active Zumba party with the theme of world travel to show their passion for a healthy life.
This is the second year Watsons Taiwan collaborated with Operation Smile to help children with cleft lip and palate. The team designed a limited “Give a Smile” mini handkerchief for charity sale. For each set of mini-hankie sold, Watsons Taiwan donated NT$10 to Operation Smile, raising a fund of NT$200,000.
