A.S. Watsons UK Health & Safety Team work tirelessly to improve the safety, health and wellbeing of co-workers at all levels, as well as bring business benefits that go beyond the scope of health and safety.
The team attended the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents 2019 awards ceremony where they were recognised in the Transport, Storage and Distribution, and Commercial and Business Services categories. This is a great recognition to serve as a call-to-action for a step-change in the delivery of accident prevention across the country.
Superdrug held a CSR Day at their Head Office to celebrate World Environment Day. They trialed an initiative to remove the use of disposable coffee cups from the office in order to reduce plastic waste. To support the initiative, the People Team arranged for personalised reusable cups for colleagues to use instead.
On the same day, the CSR section of Superdrug.com was relaunched, which signifies the importance of corporate social responsibility within the business. Colleagues were encouraged to make environmental pledges with prizes awarded to the top two.
On average, one in five women will experience some form of mental health issue during or after their pregnancy. In spring, Superdrug worked with The Blue Dot Project to launch the #MakingOverMotherhood campaign to encourage mothers to share daily photos and messages on social media, showcasing the difficulties of motherhood.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage people, especially mothers, to talk and share their feelings around motherhood and seek support when feel that they’re struggling to maintain their mental health.
Superdrug was named the Marie Curie Corporate Charity Partner of the Year. The award celebrated the support that Superdrug have given to Marie Curie over the previous year and across the entire partnership which raised over £5 million over three major fundraising events and numerous other. One of the highlights was the Super Tropic Ball, which raised over £260,000.
Superdrug head office opened its doors to the media and influencers to celebrate International Women’s Day. The event was a huge success, over 100 influencers attended the panel discussion which was live streamed on Superdrug mobile. They discussed the importance of International Women’s Day and shared their own thoughts and inspirations.
During the National Apprenticeship Week, Savers organised a myriad of events across the country to showcase the apprenticeship opportunities in their stores. Apprenticeship shows were hosted in various locations including Milton Keynes, Strood, and Birmingham, and were advertised across multiple channels and platforms to both internal and external audiences.
The Perfume Shop supported Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day with colleagues from stores, head office and the warehouse. They celebrated this annual event by wearing festive jumpers and donating to the charity as well as spreading Christmas cheer with customers.
In the weeks running up to Christmas, A.S. Watson London team joined their local charity partner Katherine Low Settlement in a number of charity events. The team whipped up delicious Christmas lunch for the elderly at the community centre, raised money, and collected Secret Santa gifts.
A.S. Watson London office celebrated the holiday season early with a Christmas party at the end of November. Held at an exclusive venue, the evening started out with a quiz where winners took home fabulous prizes, followed by food, drinks and merriment aplenty — in the form of bowling and karaoke.
