Taking a new approach to communications Superdrug promises a whole new ballgame
To promote health and fitness, the ASW UK office staff were invited to participate in the “Beat The Exec” challenge using a wellness mobile app. Participants accumulated over 7.5 million steps over a four-week period, which is the equivalent of walking from London to Istanbul, then on to Kiev. The individuals who completed the most steps also won a special medal and company-wide recognition.
Superdrug has launched a Little Vegan Pop-Up Shop in London to cater for the growing interest in veganism. The store has more than 1,000 vegan products – from haircare to foot spray and everything in between.
Members of the eLab team in London shared their passion with the younger generation by visiting Addison Primary School to talk to the children about possible future careers in digital. The team-members spoke about which subjects they loved at school; why they chose careers in design, content and social media; how they became experts in their fields, and what they do on a day-to-day basis for A.S. Watson. The children asked interesting and insightful questions and were inspired by what our eLab colleagues do.
Superdrug opened its 800th store in the UK, marking an important milestone of A.S. Watson Group (ASW) in the market. The new store located in Edge Lane in Liverpool, which is one of Superdrug’s new retail park formats and this bigger space allows the full range of products to be showcased and with focus to make up brands.
The Perfume Shop celebrated Halloween with a difference, with staff organising awareness-building and fundraising activities for dementia in stores and in the head office. The funds collected were donated to the research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK.
In partnership with the University of Bath, A.S. Watson Group, The Perfume Shop and Superdrug ran The Big Team Challenge – a competition where students are given real business challenges and tasked to come up with a viable business solution. This is the 3rd time A.S. Watson Group has been involved in the challenge, with over 150 students participating. By exposing students to real cases and problems, the competition aims to better prepare students for when they enter the professional world.
In summer 2017, The Perfume Shop participated in “Running Down Dementia” to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK and helped raise the public awareness of Dementia.
The Perfume Shop has supported Look Good Feel Better for nine years – it is the only charity that helps women with cancer to combat the visible side effects of their treatment. Teams from Superdrug’s back office and stores took part in a netball tournament for the campaign, and it had a “Look Good Feel Better” week in stores, where customers could donate and “go pink”.
