Planet

At AS Watson Group, we are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our business activities by focusing on three strategic areas: fighting the climate crisis, building greener stores, and achieving zero-waste to landfill. These efforts reflect our dedication to creating a healthier future for all.

Fighting the Climate Crisis

Our ambition to combat climate change across our operations and value chain is driven by ambitious targets inspired by the Paris Agreement. In 2022, our greenhouse gas emission reduction targets were validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative:

  • Reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% by 2030 from a 2018 base year
  • Reducing Scope 3 GHG Emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, and use of sold products by 58% per Hong Kong dollar value added by 2030 from a 2018 base year
  • Pledging that 33% of its suppliers by emissions covering purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution will have science-based targets (SBTs) by 2027
  • Our targets are backed by a clear Climate Transition Plan with key initiatives covering scopes 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions.

    Building Greener Stores

We launched the AS Watson Global Greener Stores Framework in 2022 which aims to build a stronger sustainability culture and practice in the way we design, construct, operate and maintain our stores.

    Zero Waste to Landfill

We committed to divert 100% of our operational waste away from landfill, by 2030.
